# Agent skill

> Give your coding agent the context to build with Nimble.

The Nimble agent skill teaches coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor how to build with the Nimble API. It covers writing questions, choosing a model, handling errors and retries, and acting on the probabilities, and it sends the agent to these docs for current details.

## Installation

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Claude Code">
    Run these two commands in your terminal:

    ```bash theme={null}
    claude plugin marketplace add bespokelabsai/nimble
    claude plugin install nimble@bespokelabsai
    ```

    On Claude Code 2.1.275 or later, one command does both steps:

    ```bash theme={null}
    claude plugin install nimble --marketplace bespokelabsai/nimble
    ```
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Other agents">
    ```bash theme={null}
    npx skills add bespokelabsai/nimble --skill nimble
    ```

    Choose your agent when prompted. The skill installs into the current project by default. Add `-g` to install it for all your projects. The installer needs Node.js 22.20 or later.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Copy to your agent">
    Paste this prompt into your coding agent:

    ```text wrap theme={null}
    Install the Nimble skill. If you're in Claude Code, run `claude plugin marketplace add bespokelabsai/nimble`, then `claude plugin install nimble@bespokelabsai`. If you're in another agent, run `npx skills add bespokelabsai/nimble --skill nimble` and select your agent. Use one installation method. You can read the skill directly at https://github.com/bespokelabsai/nimble/blob/main/plugins/nimble/skills/nimble/SKILL.md (raw: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bespokelabsai/nimble/main/plugins/nimble/skills/nimble/SKILL.md). Then use the Nimble skill when working on this project.
    ```
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

Use one installation method, so your agent doesn't load two copies of the skill. You can also read [SKILL.md on GitHub](https://github.com/bespokelabsai/nimble/blob/main/plugins/nimble/skills/nimble/SKILL.md), or copy the [skill folder](https://github.com/bespokelabsai/nimble/tree/main/plugins/nimble/skills/nimble) into your agent's skills directory yourself.

### Updates

For the Claude Code plugin, run:

```bash theme={null}
claude plugin marketplace update bespokelabsai
claude plugin update nimble@bespokelabsai
```

Then restart Claude Code. If you installed with skills.sh, run `npx skills update nimble`.

## Example prompts

Mention the skill in your prompt, e.g., "using the Nimble skill", so that any agent loads it. In Claude Code, you can also run `/nimble:nimble`.

Find places where Nimble could replace fragile code:

```text theme={null}
Using the Nimble skill, look through this project for judgments about text, such as
routing, classification, or checks against a rule, that are done with brittle string
matching or with an LLM prompt whose output we parse. Propose where Nimble could
replace them.
```

Build a feature:

```text theme={null}
Using the Nimble skill, route incoming support tickets to a department with Nimble,
and send tickets with uncertain answers to human review.
```

Tune the questions with real requests. Create an [API key](https://console.bespokelabs.ai/home/keys), export it as `BESPOKE_API_KEY`, and let your agent run small tests:

```text theme={null}
Using the Nimble skill and the API key in BESPOKE_API_KEY, try a few versions of the
questions on examples from this project. Propose the questions and thresholds that
work best.
```

## Common issues

### The agent doesn't use the skill

In Claude Code, run `/nimble:nimble`. In other agents, ask the agent to use the Nimble skill. If it still doesn't load, check that you installed the skill for the agent you're using, and restart the agent.

### The agent invents request or response fields

The installed skill may be out of date. [Update it](#updates) and try again.

### Answers don't match what you expect

Check the questions and thresholds first. Make the question and the option descriptions more specific, and set thresholds using examples whose answers you know. [Question types](/nimble/questions) shows how to write each type of question.
